Title: HR in a Solar company

ID: 2075

This organization is a global pioneer in the competitive solar industry. Founded in France in 2006, with the mission of making solar power accessible to all and fully competitive with other sources of energy, the company has successfully completed over 250 MW of solar power projects around the world. Headquartered in Paris, our partner has power generation subsidiaries around the globe, including in Southern Africa, Northern Africa, India and South America.

This solar company is one of very few solar manufacturers in South Africa. As such, it is helping to meet the country’s renewable energy objectives by successfully generating photovoltaic solar energy at its solar power plant in Cape Town.

The aim of the solar power plant in Cape Town is to provide significant amounts of energy to reduce the pressure on Eskom – the national power producer – and thereby to help reduce the cost of electricity and lower the incidence of rolling black outs. Although solar energy is a fairly new phenomenon in South Africa, the company bases its systems on well-established technology from Europe. Photovoltaic solar energy has been used to generate power in North America, Asia and Europe for several years, and the same successful systems are being used to generate solar energy in South Africa.

The company applies its proven business model in Southern Africa, and complements its technical experience with the commercial expertise and local market knowledge of teams and investors on the ground, delivering a complete solar electricity service to the Southern African market. The management team consists of ten people and at any given time there are at least 30 staff members in the factory or on the property.
